Our Story

In 2014 the current Head Chef, Michael Ashurst together with Floor Manager, Julie Andrews took up the reigns and became the new owners. With an almost seamless transition, Sayers continues to produce top quality food and service.

Michael began his culinary journey in the United Kingdom. In 1996 he became a member of the Opening Brigade at the OXO Tower in London’s South Bank. After several years he transferred to Harvey Nicholls flagship restaurant in the Knightsbridge store. After migrating to Australia with his wife and daughter in 2005 Michael commenced working at Sayers Leederville in June 2006.

In 1998 Julie began working on private yachts overseas, working throughout the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. During this time Julie acquired excellent skills in Silver Service, Wine Knowledge and the diversity of food from the many countries she visited.

On her return to Australia, in 2003 Julie gained the position of Manager at Black Toms Restaurant and Bar in West Perth.

Michael and Julie make an excellent team. They aspire to provide their customers with outstanding service, together with fresh affordable food using local produce in a relaxed and friendly environment.
